If you are planning to start keto diet to lose your extra belly fat, it is one of the best and most popular diet plan that help you to lose weight. But it may not be that easy for you, if you are used to of eating too much processed food, high sugar food and drinks, and many food items containing high carbohydrate content in it.

As you may heard about that, in Ketogenic diet you need to control consumption of carbs, and only can eat low carb, high fat containing food items.

1. High Sugar Fruits and Starchy Vegetables

If you trying to get into ketosis, you need to avoid many healthy and nutritious fruits because their high sugar content, they provide too much carbs to your body which is obviously not suitable for keto dieters. So you need to avoid many fruits like banana, mango, apple, raisins, pineapple and more because of their high carb content. You can find some low carb containing fruits if you are a fruit lover and also want to stay it Ketosis.

Also, Starchy vegetables contain more carbs than fiber and you need to limit them on keto diet. Some example of these veggies are corn, beets, potato, sweet potatoes, and peas. So avoid eating these fruits and vegetables.


2. Processed Foods with High-Fructose corn syrup

High fructose corn syrup is also too high in carbs, 1 tablespoon of HFCS contain 14 grams of carbohydrate. And if you do not avoid this it can easily take you out of Ketosis, even if you have eat this in small amounts. Many shelf stable foods are high in HFCS, some examples of HFCS are packed sweets, soda, juice drinks, fast foods, bread and more.


3. Alcoholic Drinks

Controlled amount of consumption of alcohol may not kick you out of ketosis, but it still affect your progress and slow down your rate of ketosis. Also if you are someone who consume too much drinks like beer, liqueurs and mixed liquor-based drinks, because of it's high carb content it will also take you out from ketosis. So it's wiser to avoid these alcoholic drinks that would take you out of ketosis.


4. Honey and Syrups

Honey and syrups (maple) too are high in calories and carbs and they can also interfere in your weight loss plan and kick you out of keto diet.


5. Grains

Grains like cereals, rice, pasta, white bread, instant oatmeal and few more are also high in carbohydrates. Even whole-wheat pastas and new bean-based pastas are high in carbs. You can consider some alternatives that are low in carb but have more nutritional value like butternut squash, spiralized vegetables, quinoa, broccoli, cauliflower rice and more. Healthy whole-grain cereals and sugary breakfast cereals also have high carbs and if you are on keto diet then you should to minimize or avoid it.


6. Keto friendly special products

You should also limit or avoid some special keto products like keto chocolate bars, keto cookies, and similar processed products. Although they are low in sugar and may have less amount of flour to support keto diet, but the unfavorable part is that they may cause carb craving and overall, they slow down the weight loss process. So you should eat these kind of products in limit if you can control, but try to avoid them if you want to see results little more sooner.


7. Juices and Sugary sodas

To maintain ketosis, it's important for you to avoid any kind of food and drinks containing too much carbohydrate. Although, fruit juices provides vitamins and minerals to your body but sad part it they are still high in naturally occurring sugar, which make it inappropriate for keto diet.

And Sodas are also another sugary water filled with bubbles and high carb counts with zero nutritional value. You must have to avoid any sugary sodas to stay into ketosis. You can drink juices in moderation or you can prefer some low carb juices like lemon and lime juice.


How much you need to Avoid?

Although, Keto diet reduces carbs intake to achieve the transition of body from carbs burner to fat burner, but it do not totally restricts carbs from your diet, you can intake only 20-50 grams of carbs in a day. Generally ketogenic meal plate should contain around 70-80% fat from total daily calorie, 10-20% protein and only 5-10% of carbohydrate. So, should eat only those carb containing food everyday which provides some essential nutrients to your body, so that. you also won't miss out any of the important nutrients that comes from carbohydrate.

If you are trying to follow keto diet, its crucial to work with a dietitian to ensure that you are getting essential nutrients when you are in ketosis. You get promising result from ketogenic diet only when you follow it properly with full dedication and patience, but due to lack of patience and proper knowledge some people can't keep it for long haul. So only thing you need is proper knowledge about this diet plan and patience, because if you don't have a proper knowledge then you may do some mistakes that can cause you some health problems.
